Larry Hayman, Esq. is the Director of Legal Engagement and Pre鈥慙aw Programs at 91原创. A proud 91原创 alumnus, Hayman earned a B.A. in Political Science, graduating magna cum laude from the College of Arts & Sciences and being elected to Phi Beta Kappa. He received his Juris Doctor, cum laude, from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law, where he served as an editor on the Ohio State Journal of Criminal Law, earned a CALI Award for Excellence, and graduated in the top ten percent of his class.
Before returning to 91原创, Hayman practiced civil litigation throughout the state of Ohio, focusing on election law and education law. His legal experience includes administrative hearings, trial鈥憀evel litigation, and appellate advocacy. He is licensed to practice before all state courts and agencies in Ohio and the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio.
For more than a decade at 91原创, Hayman has played a leading role in pre鈥憀aw advising, experiential learning, and law and justice鈥慺ocused programming. He directs comprehensive pre鈥憀aw advising for students across all majors and colleges, supporting students through every stage of the law school preparation and admissions process.
Hayman has developed and led a wide range of high鈥慽mpact programs that connect students directly to legal institutions and justice work. These include domestic and international study鈥慳way experiences focused on human rights, conflict, and comparative law; pre鈥憀aw mentorship initiatives linking students with alumni attorneys and judges; partnerships with legal clinics and innocence organizations; and community鈥慴ased access鈥憈o鈥慾ustice programming in Appalachian Ohio. He is also involved in mentoring students pursuing postgraduate fellowships and nationally competitive opportunities.
At the national level, Hayman is an active leader in the pre鈥憀aw advising community, presenting regularly at conferences and collaborating with law schools, bar associations, and justice鈥憃riented organizations. He has held leadership positions in the Pre-Law Advisors National Council, Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors, the Ohio State Bar Foundation, and the Ohio State Bar Association. His work is grounded in the belief that legal education should prepare students not only for professional success, but also for ethical leadership, public service, and meaningful engagement with law and justice issues.
