Our Mission

The purpose of the SAAO is to preserve and further develop the use of osteopathic principles and practices in osteopathic medical students. The objectives of the SAAO are for its members to acquire a better understanding of osteopathic principles and practices; to attain maximum efficiency in osteopathic structural diagnosis and manipulative treatment; and to foster, in themselves and others, a clear concept of the clinical application of osteopathic principles and practices in health and disease. Membership serves to broaden and expand students' understanding of the osteopathic concepts in practice.

Services Provided

 SAAO supports the college by promoting student involvement in the principles and practice of osteopathy, organizing educational workshops, and hosting guest lectures. These activities strengthen professional development and create a collaborative learning environment within the medical community. The organization also contributes to the osteopathic profession by teaching supplemental OMM not taught in the classroom and teaching medical students to uphold the values of holistic medicine

Tentative Schedule for 2026-2027

  • Intro to SAAO (Stars and Stripes intro meeting)
  • OMM happy hours on Wednesdays either at 12 pm or 5 pm 
  • Mock practicals before 1st year OMM midterm and final 

Spring
