Our Mission
The Surgery and Sports Medicine Club at OUHCOM is committed to giving first- and second-year medical students insight into the various surgical and sports medicine specialties. Our mission is to educate our members by connecting with specialists from across the state. Surgery and Sports Medicine Club shall abide by all University and OUHCOM policies and procedures.

Services Provided
Surgery and Sports Medicine Club offers the service of club members to the OU club hockey team throughout the season at each of their home games, shadowing and assisting their team physician, Dr. Danial Black, DO. Club members also volunteer to staff the first aid tents at 91原创 football home games throughout the fall semester and at the Athens Marathon in the spring semester.
Tentative Schedule for 2026-2027
Fall:
- Student org fair
- Introduction meeting
- OU hockey sports team physicals with Dr. Black
- Spine boarding and collaring clinic with Chris McManaway, MAT
- Sport sideline shadowing with various sports teams
- Introduction to sports medicine lecture with Dr. Black -will contact PMR club to offer collab once scheduled
- Suture Clinic with Dr. Law or Dr. Reed -already have necessary supplies
- Orthopedic surgery clinical case studies with Dr. Reed -will contact ortho club to offer collab once scheduled
- Lifestyle medicine lecture with Dr. Black -will contact PMR club to offer collab once scheduled, food provided with funding from dues and sports tournament profits
- Injection clinic with Dr. Law or Dr. Reed -will look into supplies needed once confirmed, funding from dues and sports tournament profits
- Emergency Care in Sports with Dr. Knight -will contact EM club to offer collab once scheduled
- 3v3 basketball tournament -PMR club to collab, funding from entry fees
Spring:
- Wilderness medicine lecture with Dr. Black -will contact PMR club to offer collab once scheduled
- Clinical Pearls lecture with Dr. Black -will contact PMR club to offer collab once scheduled
- Undergraduate suture clinic with Pre-AMSA club -already have necessary supplies
- Laparoscopy clinic with Dr. Law -already have necessary supplies
- Pickleball tournament -ortho club to collab, funding from entry fees
