A suspected violation by a student of Professional Standards must be reported by members of the HCOM community through the Student Professional Development Form.

 

The violation report will be forwarded to the Manager of Student Affairs to determine the category of the offense to proceed with the next steps
  • Academic Misconduct Offense

    These offenses will be sent to the appropriate Course Director, who will review and document the situation, and then determine if there is a need to meet with student(s), faculty, or staff, for further information. Following this step, the Course Director will work with the Associate Dean, in OME to determine next steps.

    The Course Director will inform the student of the remediation or action plan, or move the referral on to the CSP/Associate Dean.

    Possible Outcomes:

    #1. The outcome will be sent to the Associate Dean in OME and Student Affairs for documentation and to close the loop.

    #2. If a CSP referral is made, the Committee will review the information provided by the Course Director/Associate Dean and determine whether to meet with the student, and/or refer the matter to the Office of Community Standards and Student Responsibility.

  • Professional Offense

    These offenses will be sent to the Professionalism Committee who will initiate a meeting with the involved student(s), faculty, or staff, as appropriate. Following the meeting, the Professionalism Committee will develop an action plan, prior to the next stage (to ensure protocol is being followed).If the Professionalism Committee finds the offense to be severe, the student will be sent to the Committee on Student Progress.

    The Chair of the Professionalism Committee will inform the student of the remediation plan.

    Possible Outcomes:

    #1. If a remediation plan is proposed, the student must comply. The communication of said plan will come from the Associate Dean of Student Affairs. Upon completion, the Manager of Student Affairs will be copied on the outcome for tracking and to close the loop.

    #2. If a CSP referral is made, the student will meet with the Committee on Student Progress to discuss remediation and discipline. A CSP decision will be sent to the Associate Dean, Student Affairs and then communicated by the Senior Director of Student Affairs.

  • University Offense

    Title IX-related complaints will be sent to the 91原创 Equity and Civil Rights Compliance Office for action.

    Community Standards and Student Responsibility (CSSR) related complaints will be sent to this office.

    The appropriate University office will inform the student of the action plan.

    Possible Outcomes:

    #1. Appropriate follow up with the respected University office to secure information relative to the issue to access follow up and closure.
