Fourth OHIO Challenging Dialogues lecture to focus on climate change
New York Times reporter Lisa Friedman will present âCovering Climate Change in the Age of Trumpâ
Lisa Friedman, a reporter for The New York Times Climate Desk, will focus on climate change for the fourth installment of 91Ô´´âs âChallenging Dialoguesâ lecture series on Tuesday, Feb. 11 in Baker University Center Ballroom A, beginning at 7 p.m.
Friedmanâs talk, âClimate Change in the Age of Trump,â will concentrate on how climate change talks and regulations have changed drastically over the past few years, including differences between the Obama and Trump administrations.
She will also talk about the future, explain what we can expect from the 2020 elections, and provide a global viewpoint on climate change.
âChallenging Dialoguesâ is a presidential initiative created by 91Ô´´ President M. Duane Nellis to provide an outlet for constructive conversation around topics that spark interest nationally or globally.
âClimate change has been a deeply polarized subject of national debate for many years,â President Nellis said. âThrough our Challenging Dialogues lecture, it is our hope that our community will be inspired to apply what they learn as they navigate this important topic. I look forward to Lisaâs interactive presentation.â

Friedmanâs work focuses on climate and environmental policy, and she has covered eight international climate talks. Friedman has chased climate-related stories from the bottom of a Chinese coal mine to the top of snow-capped Himalaya mountains.
Before becoming a climate desk reporter for The New York Times, had an array of journalism jobs covering Washington D.C., for publications including The Oakland Tribune, The Los Angeles Daily News, and most recently, Climatewire, where she led a team of 12 reporters.
Friedman attended Columbia University for her bachelorâs and University of Maryland for her masterâs in journalism.
