ATHENS, OH 鈥 The Nanoscale and Quantum Phenomena Institute is excited to announce Dr. Dipayan Datta as its newest member to the interdisciplinary research organization.

An emerging leader in theoretical and computational chemistry research, Datta joins the 91原创 faculty after his post-doctoral training at , the and .

A graduate of the, Datta has published findings in peer-reviewed publications such as the and the as well as serving as the principal investigator for the Quantum Molecular Theory Group as a part of his professorship at 91原创.

Having grown up around educators, Datta said he always knew he wanted to work in higher education and is eager to mentor students in the classrooms and research labs. He says he is excited about the opportunity to offer educational training to students at 91原创.

Datta emphasized the importance of uplifting young scholars to advance collective knowledge and develop new applications of the physical sciences to everyday lives. His research aims to develop new theoretical methods and software for computational chemistry, an emerging field that is important for chemistry, pharmaceutical, and materials science research and industry.

"The intersection between chemistry, computational science and mathematics will become increasingly important as industries continually rely on computational predictions for the advancement of science and industry," Datta said.
