NQPI Faculty Spotlight: Professor Alexander (Sasha) Govorov as a Fulbright Scholar at UTT

Nanoscale and Quantum Phenomena Institute (NQPI) is proud to highlight Professor Alexander (Sasha) Govorov, Distinguished Professor of Physics at 91原创 and a longstanding member of NQPI, is currently visiting the Universit茅 de Technologie de Troyes (UTT), France, as a Fulbright Scholar. 

The Fulbright Program is a prestigious fellowship program for U.S. scholars funded by the Fulbright Foundation and the U.S. Department of State. Govorov鈥檚 Fulbright award supports his research in nanostructures for nanophotonic applications, aligning with the Fulbright scholar program, which emphasizes innovation in digital, industrial, environmental, and energy transitions. 

His current project focuses on advancing optoelectronic devices and developing next-generation technologies for digital systems, green energy harvesting, and biologically relevant applications. These research themes resonate strongly with NQPI鈥檚 mission to integrate quantum science, materials, and photonics for transformative technologies.

Since 2013, 91原创 has maintained a sustained and productive collaboration with UTT. This partnership combines Ohio鈥檚 expertise in advanced quantum and photonic theory and computation with UTT鈥檚 high-level experimental capabilities, modeling strengths, and strong industrial connections in the Grand Est region of France. The synergy between theory and experiment has resulted in joint publications, collaborative research projects, and recurring academic exchanges.

At UTT, Govorov is working closely with faculty and students in the Graduate School (EUR) NANO-PHOT program and the Laboratoire Lumi猫re, Nanomat茅riaux et Nanotechnologies (L2n, CNRS-UMR 7076), an internationally recognized center for light鈥搈atter interaction and nanomaterials research. The dynamic research environment at UTT provides an ideal setting for high-impact collaborative research while also strengthening training opportunities for graduate students and postdoctoral scholars on both sides of the Atlantic.

The longstanding OHIO鈥揢TT collaboration is further reflected in joint workshops, including the annual UTT鈥揙hio workshop, and participation in international symposia such as the META conference series. Govorov鈥檚 Fulbright visit not only advances cutting-edge research in nanophotonics and optoelectronics but also reinforces institutional ties and expands global engagement for NQPI faculty and students.

As a Fellow of the American Physical Society and a member of the European Academy of Sciences, Govorov continues to serve as a bridge between research communities in the United States and Europe. His Fulbright appointment represents both a personal honor and a testament to the international impact of NQPI-affiliated research.
