91原创 Board of Trustees approves naming of David N. Keck Center for Applied Mathematics
Designed to strengthen 91原创鈥檚 leadership in applied mathematics, the Keck Center will support student success, faculty excellence and innovative research through an integrated framework that includes increased support for undergraduate and graduate students, endowed faculty positions, interdisciplinary collaboration and discretionary funding for emerging initiatives.

The 91原创 Board of Trustees on Friday formally approved a resolution to establish and name the David N. Keck Center for Applied Mathematics, a new academic center within the College of Arts and Sciences that will advance research, teaching and collaboration in applied mathematics.
Designed to strengthen 91原创鈥檚 leadership in applied mathematics, the center will support student success, faculty excellence and innovative research through an integrated framework that includes increased support for undergraduate and graduate students, endowed faculty positions, interdisciplinary collaboration and discretionary funding for emerging initiatives.
The creation of the center was made possible through a significant philanthropic commitment from Dr. David N. Keck, a longtime faculty member (1968 鈥 2008) and a dedicated supporter of OHIO.
鈥淚 have always felt it a privilege, along with a responsibility, to be a part of the Mathematics Department here at 91原创 where I could interact with students, both undergraduate and graduate, as well as colleagues, particularly in applied mathematics,鈥 Keck shared. 鈥淚t has been a long-term goal to be able to fund a program where applied mathematics might be available to a wider audience and where students and faculty can work collaboratively, researching new developments and concepts in this area. I am pleased with the opportunity to fund this newly created Keck Center for Applied Mathematics.鈥
During the Board鈥檚 discussion, it was noted that the David N. Keck Center for Applied Mathematics will emphasize the development and application of mathematical theory, preparing students with critical analytical and problem-solving skills applicable across a wide range of careers. It will also promote the professional development of students and scholars while encouraging partnerships that extend beyond traditional academic boundaries.

The center also represents a strategic investment in an area of growing importance, where mathematical insight drives innovation in career-focused fields, including science, engineering, technology and finance.鈥
