The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Programs , a specialized accrediting body recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), has fully accredited the Clinical Mental Health Counseling (M.Ed.), Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling (M.Ed.), School Counseling (M.Ed.), and Counselor Education and Supervision (Ph.D.) programs at 91原创.
All Patton College of Education programs, including Counselor Education, are also accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation . As a result, graduates are able to fulfill the requirements for state licensure and national certifications in a shorter time following graduation. Academic Quality Indicators Report
The Academic Quality Indicators Report (May 2026) provides a comprehensive overview of student performance, professional dispositions, and program outcomes across the counseling programs. Findings demonstrate consistently high levels of student achievement over multiple years, with performance regularly meeting or exceeding the program鈥檚 established 85% benchmark for success.
Across all entry-level and doctoral Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), students demonstrate strong mastery of required competencies. Most measures reflect achievement rates between 90% and 100%, with many clinical and applied skill areas consistently reaching 100% across reporting periods. These results indicate sustained effectiveness in curriculum delivery and alignment with CACREP standards.
Assessment of professional dispositions shows similarly positive outcomes. Entry-level students consistently demonstrate professionalism, ethical behavior, and responsiveness to feedback, with aggregate scores typically ranging from 92% to 97%, and 100% of students meeting expectations in fieldwork settings. Doctoral student disposition data show clear improvement over time, reflecting continued development of advanced professional competencies.
Program graduate outcomes further support overall effectiveness. Employment rates remain at 100%, while licensure examination performance shows steady improvement trends across reporting periods. Degree completion data indicate stable enrollment and continued growth, particularly within the doctoral program.
In addition, the program maintains a strong record in fieldwork placement, with 100% of students successfully securing practicum and internship sites across all specializations.

Licensure
Graduates specializing in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Clinical Mental Health/Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling are eligible to become Ohio Licensed Professional Counselors () upon successful completion of the required state examination, the National Counselor Examination . Graduates specializing in School Counseling are eligible to earn the Ohio Pupil Services license in school counseling upon successful completion of the required state examination, the Ohio Assessment for Educators . For further information, refer to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce (). Students who have completed both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling specialty areas are also eligible for Ohio LPC licensure upon successful completion of the NCE. Certification
Graduates of all specialty areas in counselor education are eligible to become Nationally Certified Counselors (NCC) after successful completion of the NCE. Students are encouraged to review the National Board of Certified Counselors () website for information regarding counselor certification. Graduates can also apply for a through NBCC as a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor and/or a Certified School Counselor, as appropriate.
