Osteopathic Heritage Foundation Research Endowments: Endowed Chairs, Professorships and Fellowships

The 91Ô­´´ Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine, in partnership with the Osteopathic Heritage Foundation, has established a tiered endowment structure that provides faculty at any stage in their research career with support for professional growth and success in collaborative research. Each tier acknowledges the value of faculty members who have attained various levels of research experience contributing to the college’s strategic aims of advancing collaborative research and training and allows for the possibility of advancement through the series of available tiers.

Research and Scholarly Awards Committee

The Research and Scholarly Awards Committee provides research support to the Heritage College faculty to enhance research activity and to increase competitiveness for funding from external grant agencies. Proposals are reviewed by standing RSAC committee members and ad-hoc intramural content experts. The committee works closely with the Office of Research and Grants to stimulate research activity by our faculty.

2026 Summer Research Challenge for Pre-Tenure Faculty

The 2026 Summer Research Challenge is a focused faculty development initiative designed to support pre-tenure CHSP and HCOM faculty in crafting competitive external grant proposals. This intensive program provides structured support and mentoring to help faculty produce a polished Specific Aims page and Research Strategy ready for submission to a funding agency.

Research Publication Support

The Research Publication Support Program, funded by the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Office of Research and Grants, assists Heritage College faculty and staff to disseminate their research through the publication of scholarly work. This program covers, in part, funds for the publication fee of manuscripts that have been accepted for publication in accredited journals (i.e., indexed in PubMed, Scopus or comparable databases).

University Libraries partners with select publishers and OhioLINK to offer coverage of some types of open access (OA) fees through our subscription agreements. These discounts and fee waivers are all submitted at the time of your manuscript submission.

Core Cash Support

The Core Cash Support Program, funded by the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine Office of Research and Grants, is a 1:1 matching funds program developed to provide support to Heritage College faculty and members of Heritage College institutes (Diabetes Institute, Institute for Molecular Medicine and Aging, Infectious and Tropical Disease Institute, and Ohio Musculoskeletal and Neurological Institute) who submit external grants through the institutes. Core Cash may be used to pay for services provided at Heritage College Core Facilities, which include the Microscopy CoreHistology Core, and Mouse Metabolic Phenotyping Core

Bridge Funding

The Office of Research and Grants is committed to discussing requests to support bridge funding with all of active full-time scientists who are in need of funding of this nature to sustain their research operations and reach their scientific goals.

Key points for the process for requesting funding directly from the Office of Research and Grants:

  • Requests should be submitted directly to Melissa Standley
  • Requests should be made by both the full-time faculty member and the chairperson of his/her primary department.
